Water Brings Families Together in San Lorenzo

Water Brings Families Together in San Lorenzo

Water is essential to life. This is especially true for young children. During the dry season, the small well of the Posolí community in San Lorenzo often dries up completely, leaving families to walk as far as 6 kilometers in search of water. Then the community banded together to help finance and build a new Well & Water System with Episcopal Relief & Development’s local partners.

Despite challenges that came with constructing a brand-new well, the community prevailed with collaboration. Now, there’s a deep, abundant well where families can easily access clean water with which to nourish their children — and it doesn’t dry up.

One community member, Rebeca Migdalia, says, “This dry season we did very well because we did not lack water. Rather, with this well, the more we drew from it, the more it poured.” Water Brings Families Together in San Lorenzo
